What my clients say...

"If you are looking for an instructor who is always smiling and gets results and with the patience of a saint, then you have come to the right person.  An experienced dressage rider who knows how to communicate in an understandable manner and train you to be able to get the best from yourself and your horse.  With a judges eye you will know exactly what to do to improve your scores before going down that centre line. I  can't recommend Alex highly enough"

"I have been having lessons with Alex for a few years. When I first started having lessons Rocky was well all over the place, off balance, would not listen to me at all making my life very difficult when riding him. He was always trying to get his own way and mostly getting it. After some lessons from Alex and some home truths as well, (which was quite hard to take on board at first but true) we started getting somewhere. I was at last finally enjoying riding my horse and also looking foward to my lessons. Our canter work was something to be desired but after much hard work and commitment from Alex and praise when we got it right it is now a joy to canter. If you are competing Alex is always interested in how you went on and will work on any part of the tests you are unsure about and help you get it right. If you decide to have a lesson with Alex make sure you are on time because Alex is never late!"

"Alex's lessons are always fun and educational and on time. I always come away from a lesson with my horse feeling amazing and not wanting to get off and also inspired to ride better and achieve more.Looking forward to Saturday. Breeze feels very well at the moment:-)"

"I’ve been training with Alex since April 2010, when she was recommended to me by a friend. It was at a time when I was feeling demoralized and confused, having been a bit messed around by a previous trainer and not knowing where to turn.

Immediately she saw the value in my horse and set about building us back up from the bottom. My horse is not the easiest and it hasn’t been a straightforward journey, but it didn’t take me long to realise how well she understands both horses AND humans and how to get the best out of both. Despite everything he could throw at her she has always seen the way forward with him and coaxed something out of him, even on bad days – often to both his surprise and mine!

She asked me the other day why, during this rather arduous journey, I’ve never questioned or challenged her. The answer is quite simply that I have absolute faith in her, her integrity, her amazing eye and ability to see what needs to change, and her lovely straight forwardness. My horse is transformed; suddenly this year he offered us a nderful passage that came seemingly out of nowhere, but in fact was a product of all that careful training and confidence that have been painstakingly built up over the last 3 years. Once we have his changes (and he stops vertical bucking through them) , he will be working at advanced medium level!

More importantly, he is now a joy to ride, he loves his work and though still not easy, I now have a full set of tools on which to draw. I am very proud of him. Probably out of everything the most important thing Alex taught me is how to really listen to him…... I think she must have been a horse in a previous life!!!!I couldn’t recommend her highly enough"

"I started having lessons with Alex 4 years ago. At the time I was competing at BE100 eventing level, scoring 37+ (63%) and dressage was most certainly the phase dreaded! This year, at intermediate level, we scored our best ever score - 23.6 - beating lots of the pro riders on their fancy warm bloods. We even scored a respectable score in our first advanced and international! Alex has transformed my riding and how my horse goes. She is always on time, always willing to squeeze in an extra lesson before a competition, always smiling (even in the worst of weather conditions), always thorough (never stands in the middle of the arena on her phone) and most important of all we always have fun. I spent many years trying numerous trainers trying to find someone who would be patient and understand that we aren't natural dressage stars, then I was recommended Alex. I have, and will continue to recommend her to anyone needing a dressage trainer."

"Alex recently took over training the Nidd Valley Riding Club dressage teams to great effect. We attained our highest team placing in recent years at the first team competition after Alex started training us. Alex is able to make concepts that have always seemed tricky, simple. Many team members now choose to train privately with Alex."

I have had Alex as a dressage trainer since December 2011. Over the last year with Alex's encouraging input I have moved from the beginnings of Elementary to Advanced Medium. Alex is extremely positive in her teaching and with her wealth of dressage knowledge and love of horses a lesson is always both enjoyable and productive. Week after week she is always reliable and on time and I would recommend her to anyone as a trainer.

"Before I started having lessons with Alex I came last in every dressage competition I did. I had an ex racehores who occasionally added some bucks and leaps into his test depending on what he felt like. It didn't help that he hated the "D" word and just wanted to jump.

After having Alex only a couple of times I wasn't coming last anymore. I went on to take this horse up to elementary anad came second and he won every time out at a local level. His jumping improved so much too.

I can now say I look forward to my Alex lessons and would recommend her to anyone. Alex taught me in a way that I understood what whe wanted me to do, and kept me interested. I can't recommend her enough
